Hello YouTube. When I first built my computer, many people were in uproar that I was using integrated graphics. Well moan no more, as for my birthday I was very kindly given a graphics card which was an awesome present. Now before I unbox it, I must say it is second hand so not sure what literature and accessories we will have in the box. The card of course is the ASUS GeForce GT 610 with 2GB of DDR 3 memory. In terms of price, it is placed at the lower end of the market however it’ll be a major upgrade to by rubbish integrated graphics. So let’s get the box open. Immediately we can see the graphics card itself protected by an anti-static bag. Underneath this we have a small quick start guide in multiple languages and a CD containing the drivers required for the graphics card and the Asus GPU Tweak software. Let’s take a look at the graphics card itself. On top you can see this rather stylish head sink which disperses the heat, meaning the graphics card can operate without a fan. This is the secret as to the 0db cooling system. On the front end we can see the full size mounting bracket which is what we will see from outside the case. You will notice we have DVI, HDMI and VGA D-Sub. The D-sub port can however be moved to a separate row if you have a mini ATX case. Although we cannot view much of the circuitry, what we can see is neat and looks well made. Along the other edge we can see our PCI-Express pins which is how our graphics card is going to connect to our mother board. Instillation is easy into a standard PCIe x16 slot. It is nice that the card is bus powered meaning you don’t need to plug in extra power from your power supply. Take note that in my case the rather large heat sink does prevent me from using another of my PCI slots. The graphics card performs really well. I am not a great gamer, so cannot comment on game performance; however I will leave some links in the description below for you to take a look at. I have noticed an improvement in video editing which I did not expect to see. I can now use a 1080p preview window and maintain 25fps even with several streams of HD footage running which my computer struggled to do before. The graphics card is currently running two displays with ease. The GT 610 is an excellent graphics card for the price and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is looking to upgrade their performance.
