ROCK TALK - JAPANESE WHETSTONES AND SHARPENING ACCESSORIES

Hey folks, thanks for tuning in as always!

IMPORTANT NOTE
With lots of new arrivals and the addition of the Naniwa stones that are new to the shop, we don't have too many combo deals on the site at the time of posting, but check back tomorrow March 15th in the evening and I'll have some up for those looking to save a few bucks!

It can be difficult starting your first sharpening kit, and theres lots of predatory ads on the internet about gimmicky sharpeners, pull throughs, and other wacky inventions that do more bad than good. At the shop we stand behind whetstone sharpening as not only the best way to sharpen you knives, but the only method that allows you to maintain the geometry of the knife, and fine tune your edges to get them exactly where you want while removing the least material possible making your knives last a lifetime!

While we still prefer whetstone sharpening to it, the only other option we can kind of agree with is the Work Sharp, though we feel these are only appropriate for things like small folding or fixed blades, and can become a PITA to use on larger kitchen knives.
