Ellie Hardesty – Dressage Rider & Community Advocate
Originally from Kansas City, Ellie Hardesty began her dressage journey at just 10 years old, inspired by her mother, an accomplished FEI rider who trained and competed in Florida. Ellie's passion for the sport quickly took root, and she rose through the ranks of the Junior and Young Rider divisions, proudly competing at the North American Youth Championships (NAYC).

In 2012, Ellie made the pivotal move to San Diego to further her dressage education, drawn to the West Coast’s vibrant and elite dressage scene. Over the years, she had trained and competed her beloved FEI partner, Caravaggio (“Gio”), whom she brought along from a 3-year-old to competing at the Intermediate I level. Tragically, Gio passed away in the fall of 2022 due to a fatal injury, a loss that left a lasting mark on her heart.

Shortly after, Barrington came into her life—an unexpected but deeply cherished addition. Now schooling 3rd and 4th Level, Barrington is not only her promising dressage partner but also the "king of her heart."

Beyond the arena, Ellie has been a cornerstone of the equestrian retail world, working at Mary’s Tack and Feed in Del Mar for over 11 years. Starting in sales, she now serves as a Buying Department Supervisor, bringing expertise and passion to one of the region’s most beloved tack stores.

Ellie is also a dedicated leader in the local dressage community. She currently runs the San Diego chapter of the California Dressage Society (CDS), where she organizes educational events, shows, clinics, and awards program to support riders of all levels.

When she’s not riding or working, Ellie enjoys soaking up the San Diego lifestyle with her husband—whether it’s relaxing at the beach or enjoying a meal with an ocean view.
