Circuit of the Americas also known as COTA. The circuit was designed primarily for the Formula One series which is a Grade 1 FIA-Specification. Circuit opened in 2012 and now has major events for Formula One, F1 Academy, MotoGP, MotoAmerica, Trans-Am Series, NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and Craftsman Truck Series. On October 21, 2012, Mario Andretti ran the ceremonial first laps in a Lotus 79, the car he drove when he became the last American to win the World Drivers' Championship in 1978. Course has 20 turns and a length of 5.513km (3.426mi) and is located in Austin, Texas.
