Unfortunately, I have bought a Samsung Galaxy Young phone with a GPS which is not working properly. I needed an easy way to test my new phone and compare it to other phones. That's why I made the app "GPS Lock Time Tester". I tests the GPS locking time by turnering the GPS on and off six times, and measuring the time needed to lock each time. It than gives you a "score" ranging from A+ to F which tells you how good its looking time is.

To the right in this video you will se my Galaxy Y (with Android 2.3). It gets it first position lock after just 14 seconds, and then it relocks in a second or less each time. The Galaxy Young (with Android 4.1) to the left needs more than a minute to find the first position. Then it suddenly looses every contact with the GPS satellites and can't lock the position again.

I was kind of "lucky" when I recorded this video, and got these two extreme results (both A+ and F). The Galaxy Y is not always this fast, and the Galaxy Young is not always this bad. But the Galaxy Y always gets through all the six tests, which as you can see the Galaxy Young does not. (It does sometimes, however.)

Still, the "Teknikmagasinet" shop where I bought this useless phone refuses to let me return it for a refund!!

If you try this app (which is completely free), I would be glad if you could drop a comment saying the results from your test, as well as the name of your phone model. I hope I can find someone who has the same GPS error as I have.
