Three people, with a combined age of 207 years, averaging 69 years each, form a trio of retirees showcasing remarkable feats of justice and retribution during their travels. The actors infuse their characters with distinct talents and personalities: a solemn and wistful elderly swordsman, a playful and charming former ninja, and a somewhat humorous self-proclaimed lord. A perfect combination, just as one would expect. Additionally, the actors' actual ages accurately mirror the ages of their characters.
This drama series is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Shibata Renzaburo Following his role as Kyoshiro, Tamura's unique qualities were fully utilized in this captivating portrayal, making it his signature role. His skill in swordsmanship was also showcased in his movements. It is also a pleasure to see Jushiro Konoe, a major star in the world of historical dramas, known for his role as Yagyu Jubei in the "Yagyu Bugeicho" film series, play his character in this drama series.
