Lunging Part 1 - The Basic Principles

This is the first part of a 4 part series on lunging a horse. In this video I explain the reasons to lunge and outline some basic principles regarding choice of equipment.

Almost everyone lunges their horse at some time, but very few understand its purpose or how to use it to assist a horse to be a better riding horse.

In parts 2, 3 & 4 I will discuss and demonstrate how to put a horse on the circle, how to use lunging to improve focus and in the final video I will talk about how to teach straightness when lunging.
