The agents of the Asti Flying Squad, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, arrested two Pakistani citizens accused of kidnapping, robbery, attempted extortion, attempted murder and aiding illegal immigration. The crimes were allegedly committed against one of their fellow citizens who they kidnapped after promising to help him leave Italy illegally. The victim had her cell phone and passport stolen and was asked to pay 15,000 euros; when she refused, she was first violently beaten, then threatened with death with a knife to the throat and held upside down for several minutes from the balcony on the third floor of the building where she had been kidnapped, until the two attackers let her fall to the ground from about 12 meters. The man miraculously survived but is still hospitalized trying to recover the mobility of his lower limbs. The investigation began after the police station at the Cardinal Massaia hospital sent the Asti Public Prosecutor's Office the medical report of a person with a 30-day prognosis who had been rescued by 118 following a report from a passerby who had found her unconscious on the street. The young Pakistani's lawyer, with the help of an interpreter, spoke about his arrival in Italy and the incident that involved him, providing some details such as telephone numbers and a brief description of the places where he was taken. The boy said he left Pakistan and, after an adventurous sea voyage, was transferred to a reception center in Northern Italy, from where he tried to reach Spain, but was unable to do so due to being rejected at the border with France. At that point he was directed to a person who would take him from Ventimiglia to Asti. With him was also a woman, who was also rejected. Both were hosted in two different homes in Asti. During the night, the woman called the young man telling him that she had been the victim of an attempted rape by the two compatriots who were hosting her and that she had managed to escape. He too, scared, attempted to escape, but was stopped by his "guests", who kidnapped him.At the same time, the Asti Flying Squad was tasked with arresting a Pakistani citizen on a European arrest warrant from Hungary for the crime of criminal association for the purpose of human trafficking. The man was identified and arrested and, during the execution, the operators realized that the accommodation where the arrested man lived in Asti had similar characteristics to the description provided by the kidnapping victim. As the checks continued, relationships emerged between the prisoner awaiting extradition and multiple compatriots, and finally, thanks to the examination of social networks, a TikTok profile emerged that could probably be traced back to the second person responsible. The police officers acquired the images of several people, composing a photo album and took some external and internal shots of the identified house; subsequently the victim recognized both the two compatriots and the apartment where he had been held hostage. While the first of the suspects was reached by the provision of the judicial authorities at the Alessandria prison, where he was already detained awaiting extradition, the investigations continued to track down the second.
