Lucky Bisht’s story is one of exceptional transformation – a journey that began in the picturesque Gangolihat, nestled in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district. Born into a family with a legacy of soldiers, his path was etched when, at just 16, he stepped into the world of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) in 2003. Embarking on an odyssey that took him to Israel for two and a half years of intensive spy and commando training, Lucky’s dedication was evident.

His RAW assignments crisscrossed nations, encompassing the Assam Rifles, Special Forces, and the Indian Army. However, to briefly escape the intensity, he embraced the National Security Guard (NSG), standing as a sentinel for prominent political figures including Narendra Modi during his Gujarat CM tenure, Rajnath Singh when he held the home ministry, and other esteemed leaders. Notably, he played a pivotal role in ensuring former US President Barack Obama’s security during his India visit in 2010.

Amid these roles, Lucky reflected on the dual challenge of safeguarding both VIPs and the public, an intricate task that required impeccable judgment. A poignant tale emerged from his tenure guarding Chandrababu Naidu, highlighting the distinction between suspicion and aspiration, a perspective that shaped his approach to security.

However, adversity emerged in 2011 when he was falsely accused of a double murder involving one of the state’s prominent gangsters. His life took an unexpected detour, landing him in jail for over three years and subjecting him to the experience of 11 different prisons across the country. Determined not to lose hope, Lucky meticulously studied his charge sheet, even contributing 72 points to his defense strategy. On March 11, 2015, he was released after the Nainital district court cleared his name on March 6, 2018.

Rising from the ashes, Lucky rejoined the Special Forces in 2018, culminating his service in 2019. This marked the year he set foot in the world of Indian cinema as a writer. Crafting narratives that resonate, he has scripted three web series and a film, amassing a robust Instagram following of 1.2 million.

His life story forms the crux of S. Hussain Zaidi’s biographical book. Weaving together dual narratives of Lucky and secret agent Lima, it explores the enigmatic persona of Lima, who supposedly took down 159 individuals. Amidst this, the book delves into Lucky’s unexpected incarceration, raising the compelling question: were Lima and Lucky truly the same person?

Navigating personal struggles, Lucky’s girlfriend departed upon reading sensationalized stories about his alleged criminal involvement. Such hardships, however, were the crucible that shaped him into a figure of unyielding resolve. Lucky’s life lesson is succinct: courage isn’t the defining factor, but rather, one’s capacity to withstand adversity without surrender.

His journey from a young boy in the hills to a RAW operative, NSG guardian, prison survivor, and now a celebrated Bollywood writer, serves as an inspirational testament to the unyielding spirit that can arise even in the face of the most formidable challenges.
