Описание к видео Themes from La Calinda (Koanga) - Delius

Audacity recording of La Calinda. Koanga. By Frederick Delius.

This was played at an old plantation in Georgia (I was quite bored). On the third recording, while I was playing the melody line, the wind picked up and it suddenly got cold. There was a haze at first and as the haze cleared, I saw a plantation house that I'm pretty sure wasn't there before, and the ghosts of the African slaves rose up and started dancing!

I couldn't believe my eyes, they looked so real but transparent like steam or smoke. I could see the definite outlines of the rough cotton cloth and the smooth dun-colored buttons; it freaked me out by I'm always up for a good time! The plantation owner and the family must have been on a carriage ride through the town because they were no where in sight.

Anyways, the slaves sang a song about a magical African prince that fell in love with a woman... I wasn't really paying attention to the words so that's all I got out of it (I kicked myself for it afterwords though). Then they took some pots and banjos and boxes off the ground (were those there before?) and were making cool thumping rhythms with them. Call me strange but busy noises make me sleepier than silence does, and I fell asleep. Perfect timing eh? :P

Luckily they were still there when I woke up but they were working. Wanting the grogginess to go away, I started walking around looking at the plantation. It was pretty and relaxing, besides the humidity, and I even saw this guy fly fishing. Remembering I left my computer and violin and things over at the boxes, I ran back to the spot and saw it wasn't stolen, phew. But everyone was gone. I was sad, they were pretty fun people, and there was nothing left to do but go home.

I did find some cool paintings by artists Sally Hughes Smith and Gina Brown and Unknown. The author wasn't shown, but here's the link: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_CvDCiEFbNy8...

Well I've shared my experience with you and I'd love to hear yours!
