DLRL Summer School 2023 - Marzyeh Ghassemi - The Pulse of Ethical Machine Learning in Health

Marzyeh Ghassemi’s research goal is to create novel machine learning approaches that can be used to improve healthcare delivery, understand what it means to be healthy, and quantify the impact of possible interventions.

Many of the most interesting technical questions in machine learning are inspired by real use cases, and the explosion of clinical data provides an exciting new set of challenges. Ghassemi’s work explores the frontiers of causality, time series analysis and representation learning in this effort. The overall goal of her group is to learn “healthy” models of human health.

Dans ses recherches, Marzyeh Ghassemi vise à créer de nouvelles méthodes d’apprentissage automatique destinées à améliorer la prestation des soins de santé, à comprendre ce que signifie être en bonne santé et à quantifier l’impact des interventions possibles.

Un grand nombre des questions techniques les plus intéressantes en apprentissage automatique s’inspirent de cas d’utilisation réels, et l’explosion des données cliniques offre un nouvel ensemble passionnant de défis. Dans ses travaux, Ghassemi explore les frontières de la causalité, de l’analyse chronologique et de l’apprentissage par représentation. L’objectif principal de son groupe est d’apprendre des modèles « sains » de santé humaine.
