Remembering Sir David Cox: An interview with Professor Valerie Isham

Professor Valerie Isham was a friend and colleague of Professor Sir David Cox for more than 50 years -- first as a PhD student of Sir David's at Imperial College and then as a co-author and collaborator on 16 publications, including the book Point Processes (1980). Following Sir David's death in January 2022, Prof Isham worked with Prof Anthony Davison and Prof Nancy Reid to prepare an obituary for the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series A.

In this interview, recorded in December 2022, Prof Isham shares personal remembrances of Sir David, and reflects on the process of writing his obituary and the challenge of summarising Sir David's long, distinguished and influential career in statistics.
