To my knowledge, this is the first video on YouTube that showcases an Optare Versa journey on the Red Arrow route. It is also the first time one of the spare Meadow Road Versas has been filmed, from the interior, in its Mango livery. Here, 847 (YJ14 BRV) is covering for one of the branded Volvo B11RT Plaxton Elite coaches. Having said that, at least two spare vehicles can be spotted on the Red Arrow each weekday.

Red Arrow is Trent Barton's flagship service and operates every 10 minutes on a limited stop route. Despite this, the Versa remains quite empty for the entire duration of the video. It did not pick anyone up from Upper Parliament Street and only one passenger boarded at the QMC.

Onto the vehicle itself. Evidence of its past life on Rainbow One remains, as the LEDs at the side of the next stop announcement board are still blue. Prior to this journey, I had only been on a Cummins Versa once (back in 2014 on the Rapid One), so I couldn't remember much about them.

However, this journey helped me to gain a new-found love for these vehicles. They are unbelievably smooth on the National Speed Limit sections, and the engine never sounds like it's struggling. Overall, a fantastic journey! They have nice axle sounds, a powerful engine, and a really spacious interior. Alexander Dennis, take note.
