The husband of Dr. Lina Zedriga Waru Abuku, the Deputy President of Uganda's main opposition party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), has been missing for over two decades.
Identity: Her husband is Rauxen (or Darius) Zedriga.
Disappearance: He disappeared in August 2001 while traveling to Gulu District in Northern Uganda.
Circumstances: Before his disappearance, he was a prominent political figure, serving as the chief coordinator for Dr. Kizza Besigye (the then-leader of the Forum for Democratic Change) in the West Nile region. He was reportedly abducted for political reasons and has not been seen or heard from since.
Impact: Dr. Zedriga has often cited her husband’s disappearance and the subsequent lack of accountability as a primary motivation for her human rights activism and political career in Uganda.
In a recent development related to the family's ongoing persecution, Dr. Zedriga herself was recently abducted by security forces in mid-January 2026 amid an election crackdown in Uganda on H.E Bobi Wine and National Unity Platform members.
