Aldo's Assault (1991) – DOS shareware platform game

The third and final episode of the Aldo shareware games for DOS. This one was released in 1991, and is based on the same engine and concept as its two predecessors, simply offering another ten new levels.

The game boards get even more abstract and convoluted than in part two, and at some points, the level designs end up on the wrong side of the challenge/frustration line even more extremely than the already quite harsh first two parts.

I actually stopped trying when I kept failing at stage 8 while recording this footage. I had previously made it up to stage 10. Luckily, that's very likely the last stage of the game and the series anyway, because by that point I really couldn't be bothered anymore. Making the barrels almost invisible in two earlier stages was bold. Making the player character entirely invisible is pushing it. I have appended screenshots of stages 9 and 10 to the end of the video, you can see them in the final 10 seconds of runtime.
