Miramichi Marsh is a community treasure. Created in 2006 during the construction of nearby Highway 11, the wetland is a local hotspot for biodiversity, and teeming with aquatic plants, wildlife, migratory birds, dragonflies, butterflies and more. Local nature-lovers flock here to walk along the trail, birdwatch, or to simply spend time in nature.

As seasons change at the marsh, so do the species of birds that visit here. Many of them nest in the cavities of dead trees along the marsh, but they also have the choice of tucking into one of the many nest boxes here installed by volunteers. Local nature watchers say that for a few days each spring, when the tree swallows return from their journey south, the woods and the wetland are like a spectacular celebration of life.

The trail allows visitors to explore most of the flooded area. There's also a small gazebo for resting and interpretive panels on the ecology of the site. The marsh is also an important piece of natural infrastructure in the community. It filters run off from heavy rains and protects surrounding subdivisions from flooding.
