How Human Performance Tools Can be Applied To Improve Safety Culture? I came across human performance tools more than two decades ago when I was in the airline industry. Great set of tools that have been applied in key industries but unfortunately have been propagated across all sorts of different sectors.

The basic premise is; as human beings we are fallible, as human beings we are going to make mistakes; those mistakes can cause injury and case accidents.

So how do we get to prevent some of those injuries by introducing tools that focus on the areas that we are more likely to fail. An example three way communication that increase the chance that communication between two people has little to no error. Same as what airline pilots use day in and day out.

That’s just one of the ways that we can help organizations that are trying to outperform from a safety standpoint by using human performance tools to differentiate.
