Finding a Ford flathead engine and running gear for my scratch built belly tank lakester project. This is not so easy in the UK but it is possible.

I go into detail about every part of this build explaining as I go, including all my mistakes, as I hope it might help others. The aim is to show every step and not just make some kind of superficial entertainment video.

Before I started this I had no experience with any pre-war cars so I do a lot of reading and watch many videos as I go to keep learning - I am a complete newbie to the flathead hot rod world basically.

I have not cut up a good car. The (van) was in a huge private commercial vehicle collection that was auctioned off some years ago as the local council refused permission to make it into a proper museum. It had been partially under cover on 3 sides by the look of it and the bodywork was pretty rough. It was partly mechanically restored but the UK bodyshell had some changes from the US version that made parts unobtainable so in the end it was sold on. The next person who bought it wanted the chassis to make a street rod as it was built and properly registered in the UK from US made parts, back in 1937. Therefore the engine and running gear came up for sale and have ended up with me.
