It's estimated only 10 per cent of adults with ADHD have actually been diagnosed, and are receiving treatment. Research suggests 40 to 60 per cent of children with ADHD will have at least one parent who also has the disorder.

We spoke with Tasmanian mum Helen Whitaker, who at 39 found new meaning in her life when she was diagnosed.
