RNCM Brass Band performs Mephistopheles (Shipley Douglas) at UniBrass 2019. The band won the UniBrass Trophy for the third year in a row. They were also awarded the Best March and Best Soloist prizes.

Conductor: Ryan Watkins

The RNCM was founded in 1973 from the merging of the Northern School of Music and the Royal Manchester College of Music. Situated in banding country, brass bands are a huge part of the RNCM, with the RNCM Brass Band established during the 1990’s by brass innovator Howard Snell. The majority of our students are studying brass band instruments as a first study, and are encouraged to join brass bands outside of the college. The current band has representatives of Black Dyke, Brighouse & Rastrick and Fairey Bands.

UniBrass 2019 was hosted by Bangor University Brass Band. In 2020, the contest will be returning to Bangor University and will be celebrating its 10th anniversary.
