Ever wonder how antibiotics are made? Well it turns out that more often than not, they're grown rather than synthesized chemically. The first such antibiotic was penicillin, discovered in 1928 by Alexander Flemming. Penicillin had a long and winding history that lead to it's eventual discovery, but even after it was discovered, it took more than a decade to be industrialized. Today we're going to recreate the process of growing and extracting penicillin to see how this historical process that changed the world, works.
