A comparison between ADC’s first induced magnet cartridge, the Point Four/E vs one of their last models, the ZLM Improved.
Although ADC’s first cartridges were moving magnets, Peter Pritchard designed cartridges for General Electric using the induced magnet design and ADC’s first induced magnet cartridge was similar to the General Electric models except the permanent magnet was moved from the cartridge body to the stylus assembly. 16 years later, the ZLM Improved used the same design with changes to the stylus shape, the cantilever and the suspension block. The internal design is the same except for tweaks to the inductance and resistance of the coils. But the end result is the difference in the sound.
