Crazy Travel Day from Brunei to Miri, Sarawak | Unexpected Adventures Across Borders

Описание к видео Crazy Travel Day from Brunei to Miri, Sarawak | Unexpected Adventures Across Borders

After a couple of days in Brunei, it was time to head back to Malaysian Borneo. Based on advice from locals and online blogs, the plan was to reach the nearest town to the border and hitchhike across, since there are no direct buses to Miri or the border.

Fortunately, I managed to find a bus from Brunei’s city centre that not only crossed the border but would drop me off near Miri! Luck seemed to be on my side—until I was left at the outskirts of the city, across from a remote market. With no mobile data and 15 km to the nearest hotel, it was time to improvise.

After asking for directions (without much English around), I settled for a coffee shop, hoping for Wi-Fi. No luck there, but after some kind persuasion, they called a taxi for me. I asked to be dropped off at McDonald’s in the city centre, where I could get food and Wi-Fi. Little did I know, a McDonald’s was just 10 minutes from where I was dropped!

Despite more Wi-Fi woes, a helpful policeman came to the rescue with a hotspot, and I was finally able to book a taxi to the city centre. With the driver’s recommendation, I found a cheap hotel for the night. What an unexpected travel day!
