CONNIE TALBOT I DREAMED A DREAM DUAL-MONO STEREO 7v1 LINNL CHAN
music:c Claude-Michel Schönberg ( Les Miserables,) cover: Connie Talbot c Youtube
..I mixed this with 2 waivers, EQ to dual-mono panned 35% L&R channels 4 U..
I will clip it off if you think it sounds good and, just leave the original but, dual channelled and stereoized as well, from the original mp4 mobile phone clip, that ran out of battery.
I am fairly certain the orginal file is clipped, as she starts to sing abit too loud for the phone's mic and settings but, it's not bad, imo. This should sound louder to you, atleast in earphones, which I mixed it for, on the most part than the original upload.
..at the end is an excerpt of the first practice session, as I found some pretty good sheet music, to learn it quicker and reset my Keyboard to be able to tune and transpose it and, not just VST's to the music, which I have been doing a few weeks. ( I reread the manual, and, saw it didn't need a factory reset but, just some more better data entry on my part!)
..that is a great help, I mearly locked it up somehow, hitting a wrong button. It's a a real time saver to have working right! ..
the VSTi's in DAW used on that practice session, .. of the first section of song, are:
EVM Bassliner 1.3 muted bass, my own customized hybrid sample mix drum kit in the drum sample sequencer played on MIDI record, not pianoroll edited, nor corrected and, the guitar is done with the free DVK guitar electrik guitar but, thru a amplitude 3 virtual American Blues amp; BB Blues. I think it's 2 waivers dual-mono channel stereo there too, on that mix of the vocals. I used Bluecat tri stereo EQ on every instrument, and main stereo mix channel and muverb: small or large room but, rather dry settings around 28%, not too wet. I learned a few things by both trial and error but, also tweaking around, by accidents opening, not visible at first sub-menus and functions that expand the possiblities of laptop mixing, even more for one.
Nothing was planned, regards the video! I orginally wanted to use a 20-30 second background video loop, as alpha layer to put the video over, which is close up'd by using the 2D PIP effect, which also resizes, repositions, has transparency tweaks, ect but, I needed to change contrast, gamma and, colour intensity tweaks in another sub-editor to get it to work, as well as trying to Chroma-key target and remove the background of video. But, only 3 seconds of the video was salvageable to loop, as I have to covert it, a screen capture I made from itunes, listening to Sail Away, with the visual efx on, as I have to convert it to mp4 from avi for the video editor but, it gets very pixellated, didn't work well. Perhaps, I need to change the shutter rate of the capture or something.
So, this is just a 3 second loop. But, the process works, but, looks better usually in Blakc and white, as I it can hide stuff the chromakey can't if the colours are hard to filter out. It gets abit complex and tedious to do and, figure out new trix to try out to achieve a desired result. My modem is slow, so I am ranting but, that's about it.
I am most pleased with the bass and drums here.. on the session. I think the virtual muted bass, came out fairly well, not great but, OK. I didn't use seperate mono trax for different percussive instruments but, did it all on one track but, with better control of levels and of EQ, so, I think my drum, bass and vocals, if I have a good original, will sound better, atleast in that DAW, I used today. They are all different to work in! But, some things are the same but, they differ as do VSTi's! Some VSTi are quite complex and take weeks to learn, just themselves, others are very simple ones, with only one or two patches, while others are really pretty large synth progams in their own right, that work within the DAW, sort of like comparing a bass, with 3 knobs on it, with a synth workstation in the studio, which has many more functions and tweak knobs, program buttons, menus, ect. Sometimes you forget, for moments or two that it's all virtual, as it also looks like a 3D game, sort of uncanny value half-real,..but, it's all a visual illusion, with digital tricks and devices going on underneath the sreen in the laptop processor!
..i'll find a professional loop or use a clip, a part of a DVD film, as background and see what happens, or maybe, a Stellarium or game as background. DAWs, are sort of that way; when you have used a DAW several hours and then leave the virtual studio, it's like coming out of 2-3 hour movie, theatre, TV show or good game, as you get enthralled, engaged in the movie, and if it's any good, it takes you a while to readjust out if it, as it ends, that it's only a movie. Well, same with DAWs, sigh..still uploading here, at abit over 70mb mp4 this one is not really meant for you to dl to your mobile or slate! you could it's mp4 but, I'd wait until I clip off the end, in a few days in YT editor.
