In the recent weeks, AMEX announced that they are making some upgrades to the cash back rates offered by the AMEX SImplyCash Card starting from October 12th, 2022. These AMEX SimplyCash changes are meant to make the card more enticing to customers by increasing the value offered by the credit card. In this video, we will take a close look at the American Express SimplyCash Canada, discuss what AMEX Cash Back rates used to be offered, what American Express cash back rates will be offered going forward, and why this is one of the best no fee credit cards in Canada in 2023. This will be not only an Amex SimplyCash Card Review, but also an exploration of how it compares against other no fee credit cards in Canada in various different aspects.

The AMEX SimplyCash Credit Card has long offered 1.25% cash back on every purchase made with the card, and has always done so in exchange for no annual fees whatsoever. Starting from October 12th, AMEX Canada has announced that they will increase the cash back rates on this card to 2% for gas & groceries, while still maintaining the flat 1.25% cash back rate on all other purchases.

While the BMO Cashback Mastercard offers a higher Cashback rate of 3% on groceries, there are not many cards that offer a higher rate than 2% on gas. In the video, we take a look at the CIBC Costco Mastercard and the CIBC Dividend VISA card, both of which may be able to offer better value back on gas in certain circumstances. Overall though, the 2% cash back on gas is a welcome addition to the Amex SimplyCash Card, and a feature that I personally will be using.
