Figure 8 Leash- How to

Описание к видео Figure 8 Leash- How to

The figure 8 leash, is simply a slip lead that is converted to a head halter. There are many names for this leash, power loop, transitional leash, or head halter. The purpose of this leash is to help dogs that pull during a walk. It takes the lead off the neck and onto the dog's muzzle.

You must decide if you're going to walk the dog on the left or the right. If you walk the dog on the left, you will make the letter "P" with the leash, or on the right will make the number "9". Walk your dog on whatever is more comfortable for you. In this video, I will set up the dog to be walked on my left side so I will make the letter "P".

Open up the stopper to get more slack in the lead. Make sure to keep the D-ring of your collar parallel with the metal ring of the slip lead. Pull the lead and work your way to under the dog's chin. Then, loop the lead to make a figure 8. Take that loop, put it over the dog's muzzle, and slip the lead past the opening of the mouth.

Take the handle of the leash to pull out the remaining slack and slide the stopper towards the ring of the slip lead. Leave 1-.5" of space between the stopper and ring.
