Sony ZV-E1 - on Location!

The big thing about the Sony ZV-E1 is the facility to record 120 FPS 10 bit 4:2:2 @ 4K with a 10% crop. I only found out the other day from talking to the nice guys ‪@WexPhotoVideo‬ that the same crop exists on the FX3. Here it is partnered with the Zeiss Distagon 28mm and the Nikon Nikkor 50mm F1.2. (There's also one shot of Cheery blossom on the Laowa 90mm Macro.)

I've put together some randomly shot stuff from Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland taken during Easter to give a flavour of what this camera is capable of, and all shot @ 120FPS. Build quality and the lack of an EVF look like the main detractors. Picture quality - which I hope comes through from this footage - looks great. The tilt shift effect on the Nikon is in camera (an optional feature on the adaptor).I shot in log and edited in Da Vinci Resolve. The 28mm Distagon is pretty easy to spot as it's wider and sharper than the Nikon. It was EF mount with a NEX Viltrox converter. Pointing at bright light proved its biggest problem (@ 4:08) but to be fair, the adapter is designed for crop sensors.

Easter is a big thing in Poland (of course!) and themes of rebirth, remembering our loved ones, loving our family, resonate very strongly with people at the moment. There's this awful anticipation of what may happen and from taking to people, half the country think the unthinkable might occur and half think it won't. @3:54, you can see the rebuilt Monopol Hotel in Wroclaw. It's famous for having a balcony that both Marlene Dietrich and Hitler have both stood (at different times of course) situated above the Hotel logo. (Wroclaw was once Breslau)

Finally, as I start to become familiar with Da Vinci resolve, it's an absolutely amazing program, and I am inspired each time I use it. The freebie is great, but seriously, just get the full version for the extra access to effects.
