This park is name after Dr. Audrey Griffiths served Leduc as a physician, school trustee, library board member and recreation board member. She was born in 1922 in Walleyes, England and came to Leduc with her husband and four children. She worked tirelessly to improve Leduc's representation on the Country school board and today's Black Gold School Board's represents her legacy.

In 1974 she represented the Alberta School of Trustee Association at a conference in Geneva Switzerland and was presented with a Canadian Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977. After her husband passed away, she accepted a flying doctor's position in Lesotho, Africa for three years before returning to Alberta. At the age of 69, she became a world Traveler and sailed the Polynesian Archipelago in freighter, went to Antarctica and the Galapagos to study the birds and marine life, followed the Silk Road from both ends and explore Europe. She passed away in 2008.
