This is a 52" Moss Tropical Breeze Deluxe ceiling fan in the Bright Brass finish and shown with a set of stencil blades. This classic spinner-style fan features your standard 3-speed pull chain operation, a reversible motor, and the option to add a light kit. According to the box, this fan was originally sold at Macy's for $79.00. The model code is TFD Series E68707 and the serial number is; No. 320427. This fan is likely from the early to mid-1980's.

Moss Manufacturing Inc. is certainly a name well associated with vintage fans, specifically from the 1980's. While an unassuming brand, they certainly left their mark on the U.S. market from offering affordable and iconic designs. Essentially the company was started as a response to the explosive market demand for ceiling fans in the late 1970's, was started off as being an exclusive distributer to Lindsley Lumber which was a Florida based chain of hardware stores. Quickly growing and expanding, Moss fans began to be sold throughout the country in a variety of hardware stores including the newly established Home Depot. Eventually come 1990, Moss Manufacturing is sold to King of Fans, essentially ending a short but impactful 13 year tenure.

Overall the fan performance is decent to average in terms of air movement. Being new and fresh out of the box, there are no issues with the bearings or really any other significant noise. The finish is in mint condition but unfortunately the stencil has begun to fade over time. I do have to point out the amazing low speed on this fan, while not very effective, it certainly provides a nice aesthetic. Overall just a classic example of the “spinner” style that dominated the market in the 80’s.
