I took my free Range Rover P38 to a mechanic for a thorough post-purchase inspection — and discovered why the real reason the previous owner was willing to give it away. The verdict? It’s effectively mechanically totaled, with over $7,000 of repairs needed just to get it in mechanically good shape (not to mention, the various cosmetic flaws).

Despite that, I decided to save it.In today’s episode, I:
✔️ Go over the full mechanic inspection and repair estimate
✔️ Approve $4,800 in repairs to bring it back to life
✔️ Install a brush guard
✔️ Add $500 Hella lights (because… obviously)
✔️ Tally up how much I’ve spent — and realize I’m already over budget
✔️ Compare that number to what the car last sold for on Cars & Bids

So yeah - my free Range Rover is now worth exactly what I’ve spent on it… and this project is just getting started.
