This is Episode 1 of my 630-mile journey walking the entire South West Coast Path.

Today’s stretch: Porthscatho to Place Ferry, Cornwall.

Rolling headlands. Quiet creeks. Winter light. And one serious act of self-control…

I walked straight past The Thirstea Company at Towan.

If you know, you know.

They do the best pastel de nata’s this side of the world, but this time, I didn’t stop. The miles were calling.

Next time I won’t be so disciplined.

⚠️ Important if you're walking the full South West Coast Path

The Place Ferry only runs April to October.

If you’re walking this section outside of those months and can’t use the ferry crossing, you’re looking at roughly a 13-mile diversion following the Percuil River around instead.

That’s not a casual add-on. Plan it properly.
