In top news of the day, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Basavaraj Bommai took oath as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka. Bommai took oath in the presence of state Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot. Son of former Chief Minister of Karnataka, SR Bommai, Basavaraj was appointed Karnataka's CM by the BJP high command on July 27, a day after BS Yediyurappa tendered his resignation.
