Authorities in Georgia have conducted a significant immigration raid at a Hyundai electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Bryan County, apprehending approximately 450 individuals. The operation, a joint effort involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, and other federal agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, targeted "unlawful aliens" at the site.

Details are still emerging regarding the nationalities of those detained, though initial reports indicate South Koreans were among those taken into custody. South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed strong concerns, stating that the rights and interests of Korean citizens must not be unfairly infringed upon. Diplomats have been dispatched to the location, and the ministry has conveyed its regrets and urged extreme caution to the U.S. Embassy in Seoul.

This raid occurs as South Korean companies are poised to invest billions in the U.S. economy, partly to circumvent tariffs. The construction of an adjacent battery plant was also reportedly halted by the federal search.
