An original Tarana with a mix of Sargam, Bol and Percussion, Raag Kedar, Teental, composed by Harini Rao. Inspired by the Carnatic Thillana style this peppy Tarana, unlike a traditional Hindustani Tarana composition, is replete with Sargam (notes) and Bol (lyrics) by the vocalists. Percussion beats of the Tabla, Cajon and Kanjira add contemporary sound to the pleasant tones of raag Kedar. Melody interludes of Alaap and Taans are on Violin here, instead of Harmonium or Flute that usually accompany Hindustani classical pieces. Musicians Harini Rao (Vocals), Arjun Shankar (Vocals), Anirudh Sharma (Tabla), Raghul Raghava (Cajon and Kanjira), Srinivasan (Violin and Keys) perform this racy interaction between vocals and instruments, igniting a joyous mood.
The music starts with a fun riff on the Piano, and energy builds with the Cajon and Tabla joining in layers. Then the vocals come in, along with melodic and percussive instruments. Kedar Tarana, a celebration in melody……
