Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer Warren Cheng shared insights into why the company is now targeting the Malay-speaking market and the strategies planned to capture further growth.

With over 22 years of experience in the Chinese market, SBS Nexus has refined its ecosystem for client acquisition, campaign management, and upselling. Cheng explained that the same successful model will be adapted for the Malay market, leveraging events, targeted campaigns, and strategic client engagement to showcase the company’s capabilities. “When potential clients attend our events, they see firsthand that we can manage complex projects,” he noted, highlighting the power of live demonstrations in building trust.

A key part of the expansion strategy is collaboration with influential Malay-speaking leaders and entrepreneurs, including popular training gurus whose students form a significant entrepreneurial base. These partnerships enable SBS Nexus to reach a ready network of clients who require comprehensive branding and media services—from video production to printing—services that are often fragmented in the local market.

Additionally, SBS Nexus plans to grow its internal team with 18 new hires dedicated to the Malay-speaking market. This combination of strategic partnerships and targeted talent deployment ensures the company can both attract new clients and replicate the success it achieved with Shanghai Media.

Cheng emphasised that SBS Nexus’ approach is multi-faceted: it combines live events, influencer engagement, and internal capacity building to enter the market confidently. “We don’t just wait for business to come to us—we actively seek clients, as we did with our other markets,” he said, underscoring the proactive nature of the expansion.
