In January 1980, 21-year-old Helene Pruszynski stepped off a bus in Englewood, Colorado, walking home from her dream radio internship. She never made it.

The next day, her body was found in a remote Douglas County field. She had been bound, sexually assaulted, and stabbed nine times. For nearly 40 years, her case went cold.

In 2019, forensic genealogy identified her killer: James Curtis Clanton. Detectives confirmed the match using discarded DNA from a cup in Florida. Clanton pled guilty in 2020, but just two years later, he died in prison.
