Future - Distance
Manifold Equality
Imperfect
Joy is perfect together
(by DAM-U team)
The DAM-U project’s name comes from words “dans, musik, ungdomar”, that is, dance, music and youth. The idea sparked from the corona tinted everyday and the need for local collaboration. The long remote learning period of spring 2020 proved that there is a need to do and make together, perhaps more than ever before.
The DAM-U project brings together local creative talent: Youth band The Wales, vocal group SixNotes and Hurja Piruetti’s dancing youth dance groups with young videographer Linus Westerlund.
The aim of the project was to create a video, in which the three dancing and musicing youth groups meet one another. The young talents developed and realised the work together with the videographer, with some extra help from Hurja Piruetti’s Artistic Director and principal Katja Köngäs, choreographer Sathis Hettithanthri, and assistant Shanti Grönholm.
The DAM-U project was funded by “Young Culture Roots” scheme

SixNotes
Vocal group SixNotes works within the Raseborg Music Institute. It consists of six teenagers – Celina, Ellen, Edith, Julia, Filip and Felix – who have all grown up with music and love to sing. The group was founded in the autumn 2018 with the goal of being able to tackle more difficult repertoire, get to sing more often and in a smaller composition, and together create a community, all whilst having fun! One of the main objectives of SixNotes is to keep the a cappella style alive.
SixNotes has a vast repertoire ranging from folk songs to modern arrangements, and performs often and happily at both small and large events. Alongside others, the group members Felix and Filip also make their own arrangements. The vocal group has already made a name for themselves in the Western Uusimaa area, and spread the joy of singing everywhere from nursing homes to birthday parties and larger gala evenings. SixNotes has also guest performed at the ”Girls ’n Qvinns” choir’s Christmas concert (2018), performed at Zonta International’s Women’s Day event (2019), guest performed at the ”Cajornas” choir’s Beatles -concert (2019), and participated in a rhythm workshop with ”Club for Five” group’s Tuukka Haapaniemi in novemeber 2020.
The Wales
We are a youth band from Raseborg. Most of us first met on stage at the Raseborg summer theatre 2016 production, and have stuck together ever since. Usually, we are five, and so when only three of us were able to take part in this project, it turned out a fun challenge.
We like playing several different genres and are always up for challenging ourselves.
The Wales wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Hurja Piruetti
