Anticipation Stage

The tragic hero has a need, something is missing, and they want it. Bad. Money, power, fame, whatever it is, it's the first step toward the impending disaster.

Dream Stage

Our tragic hero sets out to achieve their goal and after passing a point of no return, things start to go pretty well.

Frustration Stage

The hero runs into some roadblocks and we begin to get the first hints of really bad stuff coming down the road.

Nightmare Stage

Everything is unraveling. Fate is closing in to see their doom. Paranoia and fear grow.

Destruction Stage

The final stage is where the hero dies, or at least dies metaphorically as is the case with Goodfellas.
