Shawn Michaels wanted a shot at John Cena’s WWE Title in April 2007. When they had their match, Michaels was found unconscious backstage. Then it was Edge. Then it was Randy Orton. Cena then called out the attacker, and it was The Great Khali, who hit Cena with a Khali bomb. A week later, Khali put Michaels through the announcer table. Then Cena faced Orton, Khali came out, stole his title. Cena went after him but got knocked out. Next week, Cena tried to get his title back, but got laid out by Khali. They met at Judgment Day and he came out with the title. At the end, Cena tapped him out to retain the title. On Raw, they met face to face, Khali hit Cena and then hit him with a Khali bomb. Next week, Shane McMahon teamed up with Umaga and Khali against Bobby Lashley and Cena in a handicap match. Shane hit Lashley with an elbow and pinned him to win the match.They met at One Night Stand in a falls count anywhere match. At the end, Cena lifted Khali up on the heavy machinery, hit him with an AA and then pinned him to retain the title. On Raw, Cena had to defend his title against Khali and Umaga. Umaga hit a samoan spike, Cena pushed him outside, then hit an AA on Khali and pinned him to retain the title.
