The hotel has an interesting history. It was started in 1914 by an Italian and later for a long time it was a favored property of Oberoi group of hotels. Unfortunately on account of natural calamity in 2002, the main structure was damaged and Oberois lost interest in re-starting the same and sold the same to Mayfair group in 2011. The long stretch of beach is clean and an ideal place to take long walks with waves dashing at guests’ feet. These walks on the beach also gives guests opportunities to meet the fishermen folks and see in what difficult and hard working conditions they function.

The original core structure of ground floor only which was damaged was refurbished making it safe and one additional level was built to add more rooms. There is one more new structure housing 10 rooms adjacent to the swimming pool. The restaurant and all other facilities (except Spa) are located in the main core structure.

The property boasts of well-maintained and landscaped lawns (one of them is of the size of a football field), flower beds, sunset point, volley ball ground and sand bed for children to play.
