The Netherlands: Veluwezoom National Park. Ideal hike for nature lovers

Описание к видео The Netherlands: Veluwezoom National Park. Ideal hike for nature lovers

National Park Veluwezoom is 5000 hectares for nature lovers and is part of the Veluwe, a large, contiguous nature reserve. In 1930, this area became the first national park in the Netherlands. The hilly area consists largely of varied forest, heathland, a few sand drifts and country estates. Central to the national park is the famous Posbank viewpoint from where the walk starts.
On the heaths grow common heather and gorse. Many bracken ferns grow in the woods under sessile oaks and birches. Beech, oak, Norway spruce, larch, Douglas fir and sweet chestnut grow in the National Park, with the trees sometimes reaching heights of more than 40 metres.
The national park is home to large mammals such as red deer, fallow deer, roe deer and wild boar, and predators such as fox, badger, stoat and pine marten. Most forest and moorland bird species are well represented, including kingfisher, Eurasian falcon, honey buzzard, raven, nightjar, stonechat, skylark, green woodpecker, black woodpecker and in winter the great gray shrike.
The national park is ideal for walking, cycling and horse riding due to its extensive network of 350 km of trails. There are various walking, cycling and equestrian routes in the area. There is also a circular mountain bike route.
The Veluwezoom visitor center is located on the southern edge of the park, from which various routes lead into the national park.
