The Tulsa Race Massacre and the subsequent destruction of what was later termed as The Black Wall Street, happened in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 31st-June 1st, 1921.

All this started when a young Black Man named Dick Rowland was riding an elevator in the Drexel Building at the Third and Main with a Caucasian woman named Sarah Page. Even though details of what happened varies from person to person, there was the underlying accusation of attempted rape by Sarah. Dick resisted this allegations, was arrested and lynched by a grouo of Caucasian mob, after all charges were dismissed by the Police.

This successfully Black Economic Hub was also called Little Africa. Many affluent Homes and Businesses were destroyed. They were destroyed partially because they seemed a threat to many Caucasian dominated Capitalist system. It was destroyed by Caucasian racist mobs that included members of the Ku Klux Klan, and with the help of the Police.

Oklahoma's Greenwood District was one of the most prosperous African American communities in the United States at the time. 35 City Blocks went up in flames and looted, with over 300 people dead and over 800 injured, and over 6000 African Americans arrested or confined. Over 190 Businesses were destroyed, whiles 10,000 people were left homeless. An estimated property loss of an equivalent of $31 million was reported by the Tulsa Real Estate Exchange in 2017.
