Some positions can be addressed with the draft, but others might demand veteran help. Elite pass rushers and reliable offensive tackles often take time to develop, and when you’re in win-now mode with a young MVP-caliber quarterback, proven free agents have value.
Robert Kraft’s history shows he’s willing to spend on free agency when the time is right. New England led the league in free agent commitments in 2025, showing that this franchise isn’t afraid to open the checkbook when the roster is trending upward.
But money isn’t everything. There are cap limits and future extensions to consider. The question Patriots fans are left with this spring is simple — will Kraft allow the financial moves needed to keep this team in Super Bowl contention? The facts suggest he might. But between cap constraints and balancing the future, the decision won’t be straightforward.
