"Tradition & evolving practices of Printmaking"

In Bangladesh, the development of printmaking is closely intertwined with the modern art movement. Artists Safiuddin Ahmed and Mohammad Kibria laid the foundations of printmaking in this country. The experimentation and exploration done by artists of the second and third generations in this medium, continue to inspire and thrive in contemporary practice.
Eminent figures in art education in the country, namely Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, Quamrul Hassan Safiuddin Ahmed. Anwarul Haque, Murtaja Baseer, and Rashid Chowdhury, among others, realised the significance and necessity of printmaking. In subsequent years. numerous printmaking studios have been established in the country through government and private initiatives, providing platforms for young artists to continue their exploration.

"ছাপাইচিত্রের পরম্পরা"

বাংলাদেশের আধুনিক চিত্রকলা আন্দোলনের সঙ্গে ওতপ্রোতভাবে জড়িয়ে আছে ছাপচিত্রের বিকাশ। শিল্পগুরু সফিউদ্দীন আহমেদ ও মোহাম্মদ কিবরিয়ার হাতেই এ-দেশে ছাপচিত্রের শক্তিশালী ভিত গড়ে উঠেছে। দ্বিতীয় ও তৃতীয় প্রজন্মের শিল্পীরা এ-মাধ্যমে যে পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষর সূচনা করেছিলেন তা সমসাময়িক শিল্পীদের চর্চায় প্রবহমান । এদেশে প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক শিল্প-শিক্ষার পুরোধ শিল্পাচার্য জয়নুল আবেদিন, কামরুল হাসান, সফিউদ্দীন আহমেন, আনোয়ারুল হক, মুর্তজা বশীর, রশিদ চৌধুরী প্রমূখ ছাপচিত্রের মর্যাদা ও প্রয়োজনীয়তা অনুধাবন করতে পেরেছিলেন। পরবর্তীকালে দেশে সরকারি-বেসরকারি ও ব্যক্তি উদ্যোগে বহু ছাপচিত্র স্টুডিও গড়ে ওঠে, যেখানে নবীন শিল্পীরা তাঁদের চর্চা অব্যাহত রেখেছেন ।
"ছাপাইচিত্রের পরম্পরা' প্রদর্শনীতে ঐতিহাসিক ও বর্তমান প্রেক্ষাপটে পরম্পরা ও নিরীক্ষা-প্রবণতা তুলে ধরতে, পঞ্চাশের দশক থেকে সমসাময়িককালের ছাপচিত্রীদের নির্বাচিত শিল্পকর্ম স্থান পেয়েছে।
