Automotive dealers spend tremendous amounts of money advertising their vehicles online. According to NADA, U.S. franchised dealers spent an average of $16,458 per month on internet advertising in 2016. This money goes towards portals, websites, pay-per-click ads, Facebook ads, display and retargeting ads, etc. However, when it comes to spending money on actual vehicle listing content, dealers pinch pennies. This translates to poor quality photos, videos, and vehicle listings, that fail to gain proper customer engagement. Whether dealers use an outside service, or capture the content themselves, they need to be far more demanding on the quality produced. Many dealers aren’t paying enough attention to issues such as poor lighting, photos taken in the wrong order, or poorly designed photo booths.
