1. The Old Town isn’t really old 🏘️
I know – it looks like a fairy-tale. But turns out, most of it was rebuilt after WWII. They used old paintings to recreate it exactly. It’s technically “fake,” but so well done it’s now UNESCO-listed. Much of the reconstruction was done not by architects, but by locals and volunteers, using whatever materials they could find. It’s literally a city rebuilt by its people. 🏛️

2. Milk bars are still a thing – and they’re local, cheap and awesome 🥛
Imagine a cafeteria from the 70s, serving homemade Polish food for like 3 euros. That’s a milk bar (“Bar Mleczny”). Locals still go, and honestly? Best and cheapest pierogi I had. My favorite adress:📍Polny Bar Mleczny 😋

3. The symbol of the city? A mermaid with a sword 🧜
She’s on statues, signs, souvenirs… everywhere. The story goes she protects the city. Not your average Disney mermaid – this one’s got attitude. 😜

4. The tallest building in Warsaw? Most locals kinda hate it…👀
That giant tower you see everywhere – that’s the Palace of Culture and Science. It was a “gift” from Stalin in the 1950s, and yeah… a lot of Poles aren’t fans. For many, it’s a symbol of Soviet control, not something to celebrate. Still, it’s iconic – and hard to ignore.

5. Poland was the first country in Europe to adopt a modern constitution – way back in 1791. 🇵🇱
It’s celebrated every year on May 3rd, right after Flag Day on May 2nd. So if you happen to be in Warsaw in early May, expect flags everywhere, cultural events, and a lot of national pride.

6. And yep, that’s a palm tree in the middle of Warsaw 🌴
Totally unexpected – just standing there on a roundabout. It’s actually an art piece, symbolizing multiculturalism and memory. Super random, super Warsaw! 🇵🇱
