1. Patch Conforming Method - The components are meshed with the geometric conformity and all the surfaces with design features are respected according to their dimensions. The finite element meshing process starts from the edges, faces and then the entire volume is meshed.

2. Patch Independent Method - The faces, edges and boundaries are not conformed to the geometry. The volume mesh is first created and then projected towards the surface and edges. This algorithm is used for gross-defeaturing of low quality CAD geometries.
