K.I.T.T. has been equipped with traction spikes on its tires, while its CPU is programmed to operate SID, which stands for Satellite Infiltration Drone. Several of S.I.D.'s sound effects are inspired by Star Trek: The Original Series, and its physical appearance bears a resemblance to Nomad from the episode "The Changeling."

From Season 4 Episode 18 "Hills of Fire": While on ranger duty, Michael and K.I.T.T. rescue a young kid named Darryl from a forest fire. When Darryl subsequently gets framed for arson, Michael sets out to prove the boy's innocence.
