In a forest, the Bodhisattva was born as a deer. He loved the fruits of a particular tree. A hunter observed this and set a trap beneath the tree. He placed some fruits in the trap and tied a rope to it. Then, he climbed the tree and waited for the deer. His plan was simple: when the deer came to eat the fruit, he would pull the rope and catch it in the trap.

The deer arrived but stopped at a distance. The sweet aroma of the ripe fruits tempted him, but something about the arrangement made him suspicious. He stood still, observing the scene carefully.

The hunter grew impatient. He noticed the deer was hesitating and feared it might leave. To lure the deer closer, he plucked some fruits from the tree and threw them towards it, hoping it would eat them and approach the trap.

But the deer was very clever. It noticed that the fruits were not falling naturally from the tree but were being thrown. Sensing something unusual, the deer looked up and saw the hunter hiding in the tree. Pretending to talk to the tree, the deer said, “Oh tree, since when did you start throwing fruits instead of letting them fall naturally? If you have changed your ways, I will change mine too. I will not come to you for fruits anymore.”

With that, the deer turned and walked away. The hunter was furious. He shouted, “You escaped today, but I won’t spare you tomorrow!”

But the clever deer disappeared deep into the forest, safe from the hunter.
తెలివైన దుప్పి
బోధిసత్వుడు ఒక అడవిలో దుప్పిగా జన్మించాడు. అతనికి ఒక చెట్టు పండ్లంటే ఇష్టం.
ఒక వేటగాడు ఇదంతా గమనించాడు. చెట్టు కింద బుట్టలో పండ్లు అమర్చాడు. దానికి ఒక ఉచ్చు అల్లాడు. చెట్టు మీద కూర్చుని దుప్పి కోసం ఎదురు చూస్తున్నాడు. దుప్పి వచ్చి పండు నోటితో అందుకోగానే వేటగాడు తాడు లాగుతాడు. దుప్పి ఉచ్చులో పడిపోతుంది. ఇది వాడి ఆలోచన.

దుప్పి రానే వచ్చింది. కాని దూరంగా ఆగింది. పండ్లు బాగా మగ్గి తీయని వాసన వస్తోంది. ఒక వైపు పండు తినాలని అనిపిస్తున్నది కాని పండ్లు ఉన్న తీరు దుప్పికి సందేహం కలిగించింది. అది ముందుకు రాకుండా నిలబడి చూస్తూ ఉంది.

వేటగాడు దుప్పిని చూశాడు. అది అగి నిలబడి ఉండడం గమనించాడు.- వాడికి తొందరయిపోతోంది. దుప్పి వెనక్కి వెళ్లి పోతుందేమో. దానికి పండ్లు కనబడాలని చెట్టు మీద నుండి కొన్ని పండ్లు విసిరాడు. ఒక్కొక్కటే- తింటూ అది బుట్ట దగ్గరకు వస్తుందని వాడి అ

కాని దుప్పి చాలా తెలివైంది. చెట్టు నుంచి పండ్లు సూటిగా కింద పడుతాయి. అంతేగాని ఎవరో విసిరినట్లు కదా! ఏదో తిరకాసు ఉందని అర్ధమయింది. చెట్టు మీద వేటగాణ్ణి చూసింది. కాని చూడనట్లే చెట్టుతో అన్నది చెట్ల చెట్టూ! పండ్లు విసురుతున్నావేమిటి? నీ అలవా మార్చుకున్నావా? అయితే నేనూ నా అలవాటు మార్చుకుంటాను. ఇక నీ దగ్గరకి పండ్ల కోసం రాను, అంటూ వెనుదిరిగి పోబోయింది. వేటగాడికి దుప్పి చిక్కలేదని కోపం. వచ్చింది. గట్టిగా అరిచాడు. ఇవాళ తప్పించుకుంటే తప్పించుకున్నావు? రేపు. నిన్ను వదిలేది లేదు.

వేటగాడు పూర్తిగా బయట పడి పోయాడు. మళ్లీ నీరు దొరుకుతానా- అనుకుంటూ దుప్పి చిట్టమైన అడవిలో మాయమై పోయింది. మోసగాళ్లుంటారు. వాళ్ల మాయలో పడకూడదు. ఆశ ప్రమాదాల్లోకి- నెడుతుంది. జాగ్రత్తగా ఉండాలి.
