In this week's brief Legislative Update for Arizona, we go over how the Republicans and Democrats are switching their positions on a number of important issues. On issues like war, teacher pay, and regressive taxation, the parties are voting opposite of how they did in the mid-2000s in Arizona.

Last week, the Democrats unanimously voted against a Bill that would prohibit municipalities from utilizing a groceries tax. Due to paid lobbyists claiming that the cities and towns would make cuts to police and fire if it were passed, the Democrats unanimously voted NAY - even though multiple such as Rep. Hernandez gave speeches in favor of the purpose of the Bill.

On Monday, 27 March 2023, Matt Gress's HB2800 will go up for a vote. This bill pays teachers an extra $10,000 per year and would give Arizona teachers the 4th highest average starting salary in the nation.
